THAT'S A WRAP!

Hello Everyone!

It’s been a few months since I've had time to update the blog. After wrapping Buried Alive the film I did over the summer in New Mexico, I flew back with only two weeks between projects and went right into directing the rest of THE RAGE. The shoot went great and I had a blast working with the cast and crew. Our first week of shooting started with our Winnebago interiors on our 40 green screens in the back lot of the studio. We then moved out to Co-Producer Tony Dotson's property for the main exterior shoots. He has 400 acres of land which we were able to shoot all of our ext. forest scenes at. We had several major sequences including a waterfall, dead pit, and corn filed attacks. We also shot all the forest chase scenes as well as our major rave sequence with 150 extras featuring the rock group Mushroomhead and local band Senior Citizen. Mushroomhead set up their entire stage show and performed Damage Done from their new album which we also shot the video for the same night. We worked through our main unit shoot with the cast then moved into rock video mode and shot with 5 cameras for the rest of the night. We also brought in Miss Pussykat, a performance artist from Michigan who did her fire breathing and die-grinder act as part of the video. The band dug the video so much that we shot another video for their new album on the sets from the film. Both videos were directed by P13's Dave Greathouse who also does the make-ups for the bands live shows. Over the next few weeks we worked through our ext. action sequences including the cornfield chase were the mutant vultures chase down our actors. For this scene we had to have the vultures fly over the field chasing the actors. We contacted a local hobby shop (Hobby Force) and hired them to com out with their miniature helicopters which we adapted to fit one of our cameras. We nicknamed it the Vulture Cam and it worked great as we were able to get aerial shots of the vultures swooping in on the actors which we later put in digital vultures flying through the shots dive bombing the cast. After our main exterior shoot was completed we went back to our stages at P13 for the majority of our interior work in the mad doctor’s lab and the sub basements. The film is filled with effects work from prosthetics and mechanical vulture puppets to cgi animation. We combined live action elements with CGI for the best mix of the two mediums. We are now in post and starting the edit and CGI work as well as the score by Midnight Syndicate. We've been cutting the new teaser trailer which will be out shortly. I'll have more news soon!
